Mayor & City Council

Born and raised in Story City, I feel privileged and honored to serve as Mayor. As you have taken the opportunity to look at our community online, I wanted to share with you our STORY that makes me proud to call Story City home. Located on Interstate 35 ten miles north of Ames and Iowa State University, Story City is home to a diversified number of businesses from Fortune 150 NextEra Energy to family owned businesses such as EBY Manufacturing, Dose Steelworks, and American Packaging Corporation to internationally based Tuson Manufacturing to agricultural companies Winfield Solutions and MBS Genetics. Story City has worked to preserve, and enhance, and celebrate the downtown area since becoming an Iowan Main Street Community in 2000. I encourage you to see and visit first hand the redevelopment and revitalization efforts in our downtown area.

Story City has a wide range of entertainment and shopping for both residents and visitors. I invite you to come take a ride on the 1913 Antique Carousel, see a movie or live performance at the Historic Story Theater/Grand Opera House, tour the 1903 Queen Ann Victorian Bertha Bartlett Museum, or shop our downtown stores and the Antique Mall at the east entrance to our community.

Story City also provides an array of recreational opportunities. Exercise or participate in a program at the Story City Community Recreational Center, play a round of golf at our beautiful Riverbend Golf Course, fish, canoe, and kayak on the South Skunk River, or simply enjoy 85 acres of parks and open space.

As you can see, Story City has a great deal to offer residents, visitors, and businesses.
