Job Opportunities

The City of Story City has several seasonal job opportunities coming available this spring/summer. These jobs all have flexible schedules.

• Seasonal Pool Maintenance ($14/hour and up): Job duties include power washing restrooms, walk ways, tables, chairs, etc., vacuuming pool, checking pool filters/pumps and equipment, mowing, and general maintenance. Flexible scheduling. Must be 18 years of age.
• Life Guards (starting at $11.25/hour): Job duties include enforcing all pool and facility rules. Flexible scheduling, certification reimbursement, bonus incentives for working every week of the season. Must be 15 years of age or older, life guard certified or able to obtain, in good physical condition, be dependable, alert, enthusiastic and rescue ready at all times. Be confident in dealing with persons of all ages in a positive and respectful manner.
• Swim Instructor (starting at $14/hour and up): Be 15 years old and able to obtain Red Cross WSI certification. Must be able to work most mornings and evenings during at least 3 lesson weeks: June 9^th-13^th, June 16^th-20^th, June 23^rd-27^th, July 7^th-11^th, July 14^th-18^th, and July 21^st-25th
• Swim Instructor Aide (starting at $10/hour): Be 14 years old and have completed Red Cross Learn and Swim Level 4 or ability to complete skills for that level. Must be able to work most mornings and evenings during at least 3 lesson weeks: June 9^th-13^th, June 16^th-20^th, June 23^rd-27^th, July 7^th-11^th, July 14^th-18^th, and July 21^st-25th
• Slide Attendant (starting at $11.25/hour): Responsible for operating the top of the water slides, enforcing facility and water slide rules to ensure safety of patrons. Will also assist in the concession stand and with facility cleaning. Must be 16 years of age or older and have or able to obtain CPR/1^st Aid Certification.
• Pool Managers ($14/hour and up based on experience): Responsible for overall pool operations and facility safety. The pool manager will supervise/schedule lifeguards, swim instructors and other seasonal staff. Previous lifeguard experience and current lifeguard certification preferred. LGI, WSI, and CPO certifications are a plus.
• 1^st and 2^nd Grade Baseball Game Set Up/Umpire ($12/hour and up): Job duties include drag and chalk fields prior to games, help behind the plate and ensure all league rules are being followed, drag field and clean up facility after games. Must be 16 years of age or older.
• Adult Softball Umpires ($20/hour): Job duties include drag and chalk field prior to games, umpire slow pitch softball games, drag field and clean up facility after games. Games are on Wednesday evenings starting in June. Must be 18 years of age or older.
